Bashir Muhammed, a member of the Taraba assembly who was kidnapped last week, has regained his freedom.
He was released by his captors around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11 and reunited with his family.
A source close to the lawmaker’s family told the Daily Trust that an undisclosed sum of money was paid as a ransom after days of negotiations between the kidnappers and the Bashir Muhammed family.
Although the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 150 million naira and the request was rejected by the Bashir family. An amount to be paid was agreed on Friday, and the ransom was presented to the kidnappers at an undisclosed location, leading to the release of lawmakers.
