Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny tested positive for coronavirus during his trip to Egypt, days after his international teammate and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah tested positive.
Elneny has been with the Egyptian squad preparing for a must-see clash in CAN qualifying on Tuesday, but now that he has contracted the disease he will have to enter a period of self-isolation.
El Neny played against Togo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday but will now miss the return leg.
Her agent Alan Nazmy posted on Twitter Monday evening: “Elneny Positive Cov19 will recover soon”.
The news means Elneny will miss Arsenal’s trip to Leeds on Sunday, as well as their Europa League clash at Molde next week.
